I am an attorney at law (Türkiye). My practice areas are international contracts, technology law and corporate risk management. Within these, I focus in particular on the legal questions raised by the development and use of AI systems under the EU AI Act, KVKK and GDPR.

Many of these questions arise where more than one legal system applies to the same AI system at once: a model developed in Türkiye and placed on the EU market, personal data transferred abroad, or liability allocated between the parties to a cross-border licence. Alongside the EU AI Act, I therefore follow Korea's AI Basic Act, the regulatory work under way in Türkiye, and the court and regulator decisions in this field.

How I work

A compliance review is a documented gap assessment of an AI system against current and forthcoming legal obligations, concluding with a signed legal opinion. It begins by recording the system's purpose, data sources and decision-making processes; these are then measured against obligations on risk classification, transparency, human oversight and personal data, and the gaps are reported in order of priority. No review can guarantee a regulatory outcome.

Principles

Principles we work by.

Plain language

Legal analysis is set out in plain language, in English or Turkish, and focused on concrete decisions.

Early involvement

Compliance questions are addressed together with product teams from the initial design phase, rather than after the product is finished. This reduces the need for later revisions.

Compliance from the start

Building the legal and ethical foundations of a system from the outset makes audits and due diligence more straightforward.
